NovelStem currently possesses a 50% interest in Netco Partners, a joint venture that owns the Net Force book franchise. For NovelStem, the cash distributions in licensing fees from the Net Force franchise totaled approximately $11.3 million to date.
In May 2019, NovelStem announced it will partner with Hanover Square Press to relaunch the Net Force franchise.
Hanover Square Press is an imprint of Harlequin, a division of HarperCollins, the second largest commercial book publisher in the world. The first book, Net Force: Dark Web, is scheduled to release in October 2019. Four more novels and four e-novellas in the series are also set to be released, with an anticipated rate of one book every 9-12 months. NetCo also plans to expand the new books in other formats, including hardcover, eBooks, streaming audio books and podcast editions.
The Net Force series is no longer a product of the past. “Cyberwarfare has gained an even greater relevance in international affairs since the days of the original Net Force books,” says Peter Joseph, the editorial director at Hanover Square. “We’re excited to bring this cutting-edge thriller series into the modern era.” With its past success and contemporary significance, the Net Force franchise is an investment that will keep on giving.

Created by Tom Clancy and Steve Pieczenik, the action series follows FBI agents as they battle cyberwarfare, deadly assassins, and digital espionage. All 10 of the paperbacks were wildly successful, with every one reaching the New York Times Best Sellers list. Millions of copies were sold worldwide and NetCo continues to license the rights for Net Force books to multiple foreign countries. Net Force’s triumphant run even lead to the creation of a four-part ABC miniseries in 1999, followed by a video release.
